Day 14: To fifteen miles north of Libby

Tues, Jun 6, 2017
Stats:  Today - 67 miles; 686 miles to date
Elevation climbed: 1214 ft.;  24,017 feet to date
Temp. Low:  Mid 40's; High: mid 80's
  Little wind, sunny

Yesterday we started riding along Lake Pend Oreille (pronounced "Ponderay" here) and then the Cabinet Mountains.  Today we continued to ride through the Cabinet Mountains and along the peaceful Bull River.  Then along the larger Kootenai River.  Today's hills were a little longer and higher, but still not a bad grade.  The first half of the day we were right in the middle of the wilderness as tall pine trees came up to the road and escorted us along.  Today, as with yesterday, it was beautiful weather for riding.

After stopping in Libby for lunch and then a grocery store to buy two days worth of food, we rode another fifteen miles to Dunn Creek Campground near the Libby Dam for the night.

  1. Kind of makes me want to take this trip...but since I'm not a bicyclist, not on a bike!
